An iPhone or iPod touch with OS 2.0 software installed will now playback embedded YouTube content in a manner which allows the user to auto-return to the originating page. This is accomplished using the YouTube plug-in for MobileSafari included with iPhone OS 2.0. The webpage now slides out of the way to reveal the file being loaded into an instance of the YouTube player instead of quitting the app to launch the native player. Read more »

iPhoneDevCamp 2 has reached capacity more than 2 weeks prior to the event. iPhoneDevCamp is an upcoming not-for-profit gathering to develop applications for iPhone and iPod touch using both the native SDK and web standards. The second annual event, which will be held at Adobe Systems in San Francisco, will focus on both native application and web app development and features a 2-day “hackathon”. The iPhone 3G Debuted this weekend in over 20 countries and after 3 days Apple is reporting sales totaling over 1 Million units. “IPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,” said Chief Executive Steve Jobs Monday. “It took 74 days to sell the first 1.0 million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world.” Read more »

Since the release of the iPhone SDK earlier this year, developers have been confined by an NDA from discussing or decimating information relating to the SDK’s contents. This has effectively limited developers in their ability to discuss many techniques and capabilities of content development for the iPhone.
