What is an iPhone?
The iPhone is Apple’s first Internet-enabled smartphone. It combines the features of a mobile phone, wireless Internet device, and iPod into a single device small enough to fit comfortably in your shirt pocket. One of the iPhone’s most innovative features is its 3.5-inch multitouch screen. This device’s interface is based completely on touch, rather than a keyboard, mouse, or stylus, and allows items onscreen to be manipulated by finger gestures such as pinch, tap and slide. The iPhone can also be viewed in landscape or portrait mode, with the screen automatically shifting based on the angle of the phone.

What is an iPhone Microsite?
An iPhone microsite is a website that has been created specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch. Also referred to as a web app, these microsites can automatically detect and present visitors to your website a version of your content which looks and functions similar to the iPhone’s native applications. Furthermore, iPhone microsites can interact with iPhone applications and services such as making a phone call or sending an email, as well as many web based services such as search, database integration or ad support.

How do I install a microsite or web app?
We’ve received numerous emails asking how to install microsites on your iPhone.
The answer is simple, you don’t. The way the iPhone is setup to work with 3rd party applications, you simply run them in the MobileSafari web browser.
If you’re using the most recent firmware version you can also add an icon to the springboard for easy access (or bookmark it) by pressing the plus sign at the bottom of MobileSafari’s viewport.

Will my microsite work on the iPod touch?
Absolutely, Any microsite we create is tested on the new iPod touch as well as the iPhone. Since the MobileSafari engine is the same across these devices, microsites and web apps will behave the same.

What about the 3G and OS 2.0?
Our iPhone Microsites are fully compatible with both the iPhone 3G and previous iPhones and iPod touches running OS 2.0.
